Content marketing — the practice of sharing and publishing relevant media in order to attract customers — has become a fundamental marketing strategy for many businesses. But for small businesses with limited resources, content marketing is challenging if not seemingly impossible.
The good news is there are a number of free content platforms available that help you find and share content related to your business and industry. My favorite solution is Scoop.it (full disclosure: I am a member of the Advisory Board). Scoop.it is a free content curation platform that helps you discover articles and other media on specific topics of your choice. As the video tutorial above demonstrates, Scoop.it is an alternative to full on blogging, which requires time, skills and expertise. The platform is also different from news aggregation sites because of an editorial layer that allows curators to include comments, quotes, pictures and videos with article postings. The end result is a newspaper-like layout that is easy to read, navigate, and share to social networks.
As a small-business owner running a social media agency, I use Scoop.it to share my favorite articles on social media and online community management. By distributing content about social media marketing, I’m aligning my company’s focus and expertise in front of an audience of readers who are potential customers. The majority of the content I “scoop” is created by other industry experts. I also occasionally scoop my original content (when I have the time to produce it).
Say you own a dental practice and you’d like to increase online awareness about your business but you don’t have the time to write blog content on a regular basis. With Scoop.it, you can create an account and curate content around key topics like dental health tips and cosmetic dentistry. This positions you as a thought leader in your industry and makes you discoverable online.
Well, what are you waiting for? Create a free Scoop.it account today!
